America ReFramed brings to life compelling stories, personal voices and experiences that illuminate the contours of our ever-changing country. Since 2012, the anthology series has premiered 170 films from more than 370 filmmakers - more than half were helmed by female filmmakers and a third are credited to BIPOC filmmakers. The series has centered the stories of the LGBTQ community, people with disabilities, the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated, veterans, seniors, immigrants and people from a myriad of backgrounds.

Seattle International Film Festival

We are so excited to participate in this northwest premiere at SIFF. Join director Brooke Pepion Swaney, subject/producer Kendra Potter and subject April Kowalski at either of the two in person screenings.

Daughter of a Lost Bird will screen in person on April 22 at 6:30pm and April 23 at 12:30pm, and is also available to stream virtually for the duration of the festival. For tickets and more information click here.

NICWA conference 2022

We are beyond honored to be invited to screen as part of the NICWA conference this year. The film will be available to watch 4/3-8 through their platform.

There will be a viewing party and live chat option on Sunday April 3 at 4pm PST.

Additionally, our protagonist/producer Kendra Mylnechuk Potter will participate as a panelist for the keynote event called Homecoming: Our Journeys and Experiences.

Big Sky Documentary Film Festival

A homecoming in its own right, join much of the filmmaking team at the in person screening in the Wilma on Sunday, February 20 at 3:15pm. The in person attendance will include director Brooke Swaney, protagonist and producer Kendra Potter, executive producer Gita Saedi-Kiely, producer Jeri Rafter, impact producer Colleen Thurston, editor Kristin Swanbeck, sound Alana Waksman, Kendra’s adoptive family, and others! An in person q&a will follow the screening, and Brooke and Colleen will be on a panel for the doc shop Monday February 21.

The film is also available virtually throughout the festival.

Fayetville Film Festival

We’re heading to Arkansas for a hybrid in person and virtual screening at Fayetteville Film Festival. Director Brooke Swaney and guests will attend for a live Q&A.

Online programming will premiere on a rolling basis from November 11 to 13 with the full program available on-demand until November 21. Online-only tickets will be available on a pay-what-you-can model, including a free option for those unable to contribute. All proceeds will support the organization’s year-round programming and Micheaux Award and Film Lab which engages and supports filmmakers of color throughout the state and surrounding region.
